SAW Dialogues 2022
Substrates Panel 5: How do we renegotiate collectivity in this post-pandemic era?
In this panel, we bring together 4 speakers who play key roles in art projects and institutions. The discussion will look into how spaces for art were run before the pandemic, and how things are changing and adapting thereafter.
The live broadcast will conclude with a question and answer session in the last 30 minutes with Anmari Van Nieuwenhove.
ART X GLOBALITY PILLAR TALK: Beyond Borders
Upending national and regional boundaries, surprising points of intersection between far-flung regions, building bridges between indigenous and hybrid identities, latitudes that exceed themselves and exist concurrently. Exploring ideas of multiplicity beyond the norm, destroying parochialism and reconnecting.
ART X THE SENSES PILLAR EVENT: Synaesthesia
A fresh discovery of synaesthetic healing through the different senses and the mediums of music, dance, performance, wellness and cuisine.
ART X BUSINESS PILLAR TALK: Bleeding Edges
The future of technology, art, and business, building a new, interdisciplinary, connected yet conscious and caring world. Looking towards a more ethical approach to the digital arts ecosystem.
Artist’s social responsibility in relation to performance methodology and pedagogy
This discussion centers on the cultural significance and educational aspects of performance art practices and its extension into the social life; which seeks an egalitarian model to assume artistic responsibility and autonomy in response to the artist’s immediate social environment.
Dormancy Panel 4 | Stepping Out: Finding oneself in and outside of art
In this Panel, we bring together Alexander Koch and Lim Kok Boon who once practiced as artists. The discussion would look into their journeys as art practitionersto how they navigate the same field today in different modes.
ART X TECH PILLAR TALK: Synchronicity
The conditions of inhabiting the future, beyond the blockchain or AI, chance and serendipity instead of disruption, undoing dystopias and proposing better alternatives. Visualising the unexpected that is to come by breaking down concepts of space and geographical time zones.
Dormancy Keynote: Stepping out
In this segment of DORMANCY, we will take a closer look at the impact of this development (the commercialisation and market dynamics in relation to the arts) by asking: how has this created realities that have led to an exhausting situation that an increasing number of contributors to the art field experience as a form of burn-out?
Gestation Panel: How has parenting shifted the way that you think about the practices of the future?
In the panel discussion, the artists are also bringing their roles as parents (and grandparent) to the discussion. We consider how they navigate three basic human activities — caring, playing, and working — and seek to rethink art practices of the future.
The Sound of Two-Hands Clapping
The discussion is centered on artists’ creative processes and the experiential value of art in relation to mental health well-being; it explores the therapeutic and healing processes of performance as an experiential art form that can be imbued into the artists and audiences to become reciprocally beneficial for both parties.
