The word lumbung can be loosely translated as “rice barn”, which refers to the place where crops are stored as a shared resource for the communities in rural Indonesian villages. Organised by ruangrupa and What Could/Should Curating Do?, this webinar will be led by Indonesian artist farid rakun through Zoom and livestreamed on Facebook. rakun will present how the lumbung’s acting principles of interdependence, collectivism and local sourcing can be applied in the art world and daily life.

Art+Feminism: Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2021
Organised by Asia Art Archive (AAA) and M+, ‘Art+Feminism: Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2021’ aims to improve the dissemination of gender and the arts discourse. Participants will edit, create, translate and correct Wikipedia articles on women and non-binary artists from Asia at AAA or via Zoom to close the information gender gap through accurate and comprehensive representation. Offline participants will have access to source materials relating to the topic courtesy of AAA Library.

Umi Dachlan: Metaphors for Humanity 
As part of the launch of ‘Umi Dachlan: Metaphors for Humanity’, a monograph written by Vivyan Yeo, Art Agenda S.E.A. will host a panel discussion about Dachlan’s place in post-independence Indonesian art history. Marc Bollansee, Yus Herdiawan and Christine Toelle will explore how Dachlan translated the political strife of a new nation through abstraction. The session will also include an exhibition tour and a question and answer session for the audience.

DEKAT-DEKAT JAUH (So Close Yet So Far)
Co-organised by Santy Saptari Art Consulting and Asialink Arts, ‘DEKAT-DEKAT JAUH (So Close Yet So Far)’ is a talk series dissecting how the regional visual arts industry has become a means of cultural exchange between Indonesia and Australia. In its third iteration Konfir Kabo, Margaret Moore, Erastus Radjimin and Tom Tandio will take part in the panel discussion, ‘Private Platforms and The Art Market: Collecting, Connecting, and Commissioning’. This conversation will look at the collaborative role private collectors and organisations play in maintaining and fostering commercial relationships between the two countries.

The Past is in the Present
A&M Salon is our newest initiative that brings together creatives to discuss art at its intersections with other disciplines. Held in partnership with Epigram Books, the first A&M Salon is held in conjunction with the book launch of ‘Robert Yeo at Eighty: A Celebration’. Titled ‘The Past is in the Present’, speakers Robert Yeo, Alfian Sa'at, Sim Chi Yin, and Dr. Ismail S. Talib will start a cross-disciplinary dialogue on the use of art and literature as a medium to interrogate the past. Following the in-person event at The Modern Space in Singapore, the session will be broadcasted on YouTube the week after.

Pinaree Sanpitak 1985-2020 Monograph Launch
As part of Pinaree Sanpitak’s exhibition and program series ‘HOUSE CALLS’, 100 Tonson Foundation will be holding a launch of the artist’s monograph titled ‘Pinaree Sanpitak 1985-2020’. Art writers and experts Rhana Devenport, Gridthiya Gaweewong, Roger Nelson, and Vipash Purichanont will have a virtual talk to discuss Sanpitak’s influence in contemporary Southeast Asian Art. Bangkok audience can visit the foundation to meet the speakers and view the monograph.
